Donation Refund Policy
Project Refit, Inc. is grateful for your donation and support of our mission. Our budget and ongoing financial health rely upon accounting for and accepting irrevocable nonrefundable donations from the public. Consequently, Project Refit considers all charitable donations to be nonrefundable. For the avoidance of doubt, there will be circumstances in which donations can be refunded. If you donated for a specific purpose, and Project Refit is unable to carry out that purpose, the amount you contributed will either be refunded to you or, at your request, transferred to another publicly supported charitable organization. Similarly, if you contributed for a scheduled Project Refit event that we need to cancel or reschedule to a date on which you are unable to attend, you will either receive a refund or your contribution may be transferred to another publicly supported charitable organization. However, refunds will generally be made in the following circumstances:
-
Donation was made in error, e.g., you and your spouse both made a contribution to Project Refit;
-
The donation was for the wrong amount, for example, an extra zero;
-
Project Refit was not the intended done;
-
The individual’s circumstances have changed materially, for instance, if the donation was made from the proceeds of a sale that was later canceled or refunded; and
-
You request a prospective discontinuance of a recurring donation. Project Refit does not address it until after the donation for the month or months that you had requested discontinuance of contributions have been received.
The foregoing are not the only circumstances in which Project Refit will refund contributions but are the most common. If you want to request a refund, please contact us at support@projectrefit.us. Depending upon your circumstances, Project Refit will, in its discretion, consider your request if it is made within five (5) days of the original donation. All requests for refunds must be made in writing, and Project Refit may ask for proof of identity before issuing a refund, and all refunds are returned using the original method of payment. For example, if your donation was made by credit card, your refund will be credited to the same account. If you filed a tax return claiming a charitable deduction for the refunded gift, you are responsible for contacting your tax advisor to determine if your tax return must be amended.
If you are requesting a refund of a very large gift or certain gifts of property, Project Refit may contact the Division of Consumer Affairs before processing your refund request.
